Lyzer Dyefast 50
(Enhances wash fastness of cellulosics dyed with reactive and
direct dyestuffs)
Appearance: Pourable
transparent liquid.
Constitution: Cationic-
amide condensation products.
Description: Cellulosic
substrates are dyed with various classes of dyestuffs, which
include direct, reactive, vat, azoic and sulfur colours. In
the case of direct dyes the polyhydroxy character of cellulosic
substrate prevents hydrophobic interaction between the dye and
the fibre although hydrogen bonding may also contribute to dye
fibre attachment. These relatively weak dye fibre bonds coupled
with fairly high solubility of the dyestuff in water and
hydrophilic nature of the cellulosic substrate are responsible
for generally poor to moderate fastness properties on both
viscose and cotton. In the case of reactive dyestuffs the dye
reacts with ionised hydroxyls of water in alkaline conditions
that are required for dyeing resulting in hydrolysis of the
dyestuff that have no affinity for cellulose thereby reducing
the wash fastness characteristics of the dyeings. Hence, it
becomes imperative to provide an after treatment to fabrics dyed
with direct and reactives to enhance fastness properties. Lyzer
Dyefast 50 is formaldehyde based dye-fixing agent, which
enhances wash-fastness of the dyeings by increasing the
molecular size of the dye.
After dyeing the fabric is treated with a 0.3 to 0.6%
solution of Lyzer Dyefast 50 squeezed and dried for fast
dyeings.
Storage: The product enjoys
very good shelf life and warrants no particular storage
conditions. However it is always advisable to have moderate
conditions with the container being recapped tightly after use.
